Splitcoast Tutorial: Q-tip Pointillism

This week's tutorial over on Splitcoast is called Q-tip Pointillism - it's just what it sounds like! So pull out some cotton swabs and ink, and do a little dotting!

Our author created a beautiful fall tree, but I've been having fun with Halloween cards, and thought these ado-o-o-o-o-o-o-orable monsters would be cute with a spotty texture!

I brushed each monster lightly with whatever ink was left in my brushes, then dabbed in ink with cotton swabs using drops of matching dye reinker. I outlined each face and added details with a Chameleon Fineliner, then added some shadows with Copic markers.

The sentiment I used is actually all in one, but I masked off each line to separate the words - that's part of this adorable monster set from Impression Obsession. The word bubble dies are from Simon Says Stamp - looks like they're discontinued.

The wall is stenciled with Distress ink - that stencil is HERE and it's another versatile one from A Colorful Life Design. (If you order from them use my code DinaFan10 for 10% off!)

This week is dragging on - I did finish up Spring artwork, and that was a major goal - now back to portraits and reviews! Does someone want to come and help me clean?
Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a cute stencil! I can't wait to try France's technique. You did a great and fun card.
