Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Last Minute Gifts

The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a holiday project that could be quickly made at the last minute.

I bought a set of cookie cutters for quick ornaments on Amazon (they were on sale with a coupon at the time - super cheap!) so I decided to make something with those. Here's the finished project:

I'm in 'use what's in reach' mode, and I had this background from Lydia's most recent Mix-Ability challenge on my desk. This is a technique done with a water-soluble medium and plastic wrap. For this piece I dripped a couple of drops of liquid watercolor onto the plastic wrap, misted with water, pressed a piece of hot press watercolor paper into the wetness, flipped it over and scrunched the plastic around, then left it overnight to dry. This is what I ended up with:

I used the Small Poinsettia Die set to cut out several flowers from the textured background, then found another leftover background for the leaves (same dies).

I shaped the pieces on a foam pad using the rounded end of a sketching pencil...

...then layered them together in threes. I squeezed out a little puddle of glue on my craft mat and dipped each center there first.

For the centers, I added a round bead of hot glue, then sprinkled embossing powder over the glue and heated with my heat gun. The one on the right is done - you can see how the reheating pulled the glue into a round little ball.

These poinsettias are easy to assemble - they'd be great to have on hand for emergency gifts or tags. I glued 4 onto the edge of the ornament and added a ribbon. Done!
