Tea and scraplings

Donna's challenge to us for our next smARTworks Tea Party is to create "scraplings". Scraplings are simply card bases made from the scraps you create from other card projects. For example, when I make a 5" square card, I always have a long 3-1/2" x 11" strip left over. If you make a 4-1/4" wide card front from a 6" square sheet of cardstock, you'd have a 1-3/4" x 6" to make a scrapling card out of. Sounds like a fun challenge! Hope you'll join us...!

Speaking of using scraps and such...I wanted to share this card - I shared some other mortise-masked cards the other day, so you can scroll down for directions and stamp credits. The difference with this card is that the base is actually recycled. It was a Christmas card that one of the little boys 'embellished', but it had a printed pattern on the back that worked perfectly as a card layer (whodathunkit?).
Taking it easy today...maybe some rest will help this cough I have. Evan was doing well yesterday - doctor gave him the OK to go ahead and start sitting up and walking around a bit. He was keeping fluids down so they gave him rice to eat last night. He is making good progress. Thanks to those of you who have been praying for him!
