Cookies and Tea

It's time once again for another smARTworks Design Team tea party. Susan brought our challenge to the table this week, instructing us to "use chocolate/brown, lime/chartreuse, and aqua/teal" and "have fun".

Understand that for all intents and purposes we are homeless (!) and I don't have any aqua or teal paper or embellishments or ANYTHING - I even left my aqua/teal Prismacolor pencils overseas to make room for colors I use more. So...my first card ended up brown/lime/turquoise. And orange. And...after looking at it and realizing the excess amount of orange in the card...I decided I'd better have a "Take Two" to share.

This little kittie from the "For You" set is such a fun one to color and play with. In the first card he is watercolored, and the colored piece was trimmed and layered over a stamped image, so he could have whiskers, and have a bird standing on his head without showing the feet.

Card #2...not a great picture. But I did find a teal watercolor pencil and was able to follow the color challenge a little more closely. The balloon is a part of the original image - I removed it on the first card...and on this card I sketched in the line so the kittie can be "hanging" on it. "Hang in there" is from smARTworks' last release of winter images.

Be sure to check out what other team members created as they post throughout the day:

  5. Extra cute on both counts, and your coloring wows me no matter what the color combo, so I'll ignore the orange. ~wink, wink

I like #1 because of what you did with Bitty Bird, and #2 because paired with the fabulous prints, it's sophisticated cuteness.

  6. Yeah...what they said! Seriously, I love both of these cards. Maybe the orange wasn't part of the challenge, but it's a combo I love, and the birdie on the head? Inspired. My favorite thing about your second card? The white flowers.
