teapot border

This project used some scraps from a previous project...one of the benefits of keeping a cluttered desk! LOL Yesterday my house girls took the initiative of cleaning my desk...oh my word, did that upset me! I tend to work in small spurts - sit down for 10 minutes here and there during the day - and I had just earlier stamped something on watercolor paper (which is hard to find here, so it's rather precious to me), and bless their hearts...they had put all my scrap pieces and partial card panels and works in progress (which were many - please tell me I'm not the only one...) in a basket on my desk, and I could not for the life of me find that piece of watercolor paper...I was completely beside myself. Glory! All that stress over a piece of paper. (The desk is back to its happy state of clutter now, thank you very much!)

I'm not completely thrilled with this card, but I put it together anyway, and you can tell me what you think. I liked the colors and idea of it, but I couldn't get the verse to not overwhelm the top if I did it on white cardstock. I had this piece of acetate on the desk from another project, and with a little white pigment ink on the back it's visible without getting lost, and isn't too distracting. Just not sure I love it. Oh well. The teapots (smARTworks, Tea Bitties set)are placed with my Stamp-a-ma-jig, and watercolored with Derwent pencils. I dotted the 'wallpaper' with acrylic paint. I made that scalloped border with my photo corner punch.

Unrelated news......they have about 1/3 of the floor done in the main room of our new house - that was exciting to see. I have pictures but haven't posted them yet (to the family blog). We're just going to have a cement floor, but it will be smooth and shiny, and they are putting lines in it with rope at 18" squares to make it look like there's tile. It looks really cool. Can't wait to slap some paint on those walls!

  1. Oh I love this card...the colors are so beautiful. I agree about the sentiment, the first thing that popped into my head is to have a one-line longer sentiment stamped in the upper right (on the white) just above the tea pots...but who knows...then maybe there would be too much space below??? I always have to futz and finagle with cards like this.

I do think it is wonderful though.
