Art Impressions challenge

{I thought I'd back-date this post and tuck it back into July's posts, but it occurs to me that if you subscribe, it will still pop up as a new post. Oh well...worse things have happened...!}

The challenge for Art Impressions' monthly card contest for August is to incorporate this photograph into your work. Fun, huh?

Below are my 2 entries. These were really fun to do - I haven't done any real scene stamping for a while, so I enjoyed putting these little scenes together. There's not a lot to explain really - the garden gate card uses stamps from one of the clear watercolor sets - the gate and the greenery and flowers. The fence is a separate stamp, and I had to mask the bottom of it as it's a bit taller than the gate is. The girl is also from the watercolor line. Her dress is paper-pieced (I stamped it on a piece of patterned paper, cut out the dress, and layered it over the image). The rock photo shows up in the path up to the gate - it's almost not really noticeable. It's taken from the bottom left corner of the photo.

The penguins are in one stamp - I love them! I actually bought that stamp thinking I could separate them and have 5 individual stamps, but I haven't done it yet and not sure that I will. The ocean is a scrap of bubble background I had done a long time ago, and I tore it to expose the white edge for the waves. The sunset is done with chalk inks "direct to paper" or DTP, and the sun is made with a circle punch and scrap of yellow textured paper. The rock photo is the beach. The penguins are watercolored, and you can't see but there's Crystal Lacquer on the mask and black glitter gel pen on the sunglasses. Fun stuff. :)
