Splitcoast Tutorial: Home-Sweet-Home Mini Album
This week's tutorial over on Splitcoast is an adorable mini album shaped like a house. Our author's project is designed to open up and display 4 photos inside, but I couldn't wait to play with two new and adorable die sets from Spellbinders, so I made a mini version instead!
I started with a piece of heavy patterned paper that was 11" x 5" - for the walls I scored along the panel every 2-1/2" which gave me a 1" tab at the end so I could form a box card instead of an album. I marked down 1-1/4" to cut out the side sections and make my little roof peaks.
The card folds flat, so there are 2 little scenes that cross the corners - I made sure to keep my adhesive off the folds so the elements were free and the card could open to right corners. My pieces were all cut out of my precious Medioevalis watercolor stationery, and then watercolored loosely with a large brush. Some of them are popped up on foam tape, and some are brushed lightly with sparkly Imagine Shimmer Stix for a little extra sparkle.
I used one of my little belated birthday sentiments on the tag - that set is HERE, and I will share another project using it tomorrow!
These die sets are so adorable - Sharyn Sowell's designs are usually full scenes, but these sets are full of individual elements that are so fun and easy to mix and match in whimsical ways.
Here they are:

I sized my card so it will fit into a 5" square envelope - it does fold "flat" but because of the roof piece and extra embellishments, it would require extra postage. (It's worth it, though, don't you think?!)
I'll have lots of Spellbinders projects to share this month - I'm excited to be joining their team as an influencer!
