Splitcoast Tutorial: Felt Succulents
It's my turn to share a tutorial over on Splitcoast, and I decided on a fun dimensional project - Felt Succulents! Succulents are suddenly very popular, and I thought it would be cool to make some out of dies and die sets that weren't necessarily made for that purpose.
For these samples I used some teardrop leaf dies, a large flower die cut into sections, a tapered fringe die, a sectioned Christmas tree die, and an ornament die. Click over to the tutorial page to see how they were made - I share several different ways! I wanted to link to this felt too - it is gorgeous, and I love the heathered colors for this project. I used the Earthy Heathers collection, but she has soooo many more beautiful colors and wool blend felt sets to choose from.
I made this little decoration using an old tape roll and a strip of decorative paper, then glued my little plants on the top. So easy! I really was wanting to fill a box with Spanish moss, but it didn't work out this time. Next time though! I think that would be cute spilling out over the edges.
Take a peek and tell me what you think! What dies can you use from your collection to create little succulent leaves?
They are so very gorgeous!
