Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Quick Christmas Cards

The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a Christmas card that is simple to make and easily reproduced.

I started off with a piece of watercolor paper that was 5-1/4" x 8", and using my MISTI, I positioned my large Brush Poinsettia stamp in the middle and inked it up with Barn Door Distress ink, then misted and stamped.

Once that was stamped, I added some brushed and splattered gold watercolor paint (Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors) - these are gorgeous metallic watercolors that were released at CHA... the demonstrator told us to be sure to wet and work them quite a bit before painting to really get the pigment moving, and that was great advice. I used the Lyra Gold for this project. Such a pretty little full pan set.

I cut the panel right in half, then added the stamped sentiment on both cards with the MISTI...

The sentiment is HERE.

I love being able to make 2 cards with one background!

  1. Two from one, Brilliant! Itching to try Gansai Tambi paints, but have so many watercolour paints I dare not buy them :(

    1. I'm the same, but I don't have anything like these metallics in a set. I don't have the other Tambi paints - I didn't feel like they would replace what I was already using.

    2. I have nothing metallic in my paint collection either, but I've just had a lightbulb moment! I'm going to try mixing a paste of Gum Arabic and gold mica powder and letting it dry in an empty watercolour pan. You never know........

  2. Love how you got 2 cards out of one background. Great way to speed up holiday card making :-) Your cards must be even more beautiful IRL with all the metallic shine. TFS Dina. Hugs, Nancy

  3. Wow...great card, Dina! I love the watercolor look, and how you did one background for two cards by cutting the flower in half! Love it.
