Mix-Ability challenge: Illegible Script... and news!

I'm a little late with an entry for Lydia's Mix-Ability challenge, but I really wanted to do this one so I made myself sit down and create. Her challenge is to integrate some loose journaling into a project - I love this technique and when I do use it, it's usually some kind of a prayer. This one is too - it's a prayer of gratitude.... because tomorrow Russ will be starting a new job!  If you've been following our story for any length of time you know that this has been a long road for us. It's been amazing to see pieces fall into place, and to be reassured that this is where we need to be.

I started with a blank 2" x 4" matboard panel from Inchie Arts - this is a fun size for cards, and they stand up to a lot of layers.  This stamp is from my summer release at Impression Obsession - Where You Need. My journaling was done with a #2 pencil, then sketched over with the flower (there are tons of these here now - so pretty!)

Over the pencil I did some palette blending with my Zig markers (stay tuned for a tutorial on that later this week!) and Distress ink, added some details with a ball point pen and highlights with a white pencil, then brushed some gesso from the end to lighten the area I wanted to stamp.

I've been playing with a new design project over the weekend and need to focus on Spring stamps this week - if you have ideas for me, please share! This move has really zapped my creative spunk.

Have a great week!
Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Looks great and wasn't the challenge fun! So thrilled to hear about Russ' job. I was so struck by the beauty of the US as we traveled this summer.....how about a "This Land Is Your Land" theme with some landscapes. I'd also love some Midwest farm scenes (could do 4 seasons). Whatever you come up with will be incredible I'm sure!
