Mix-Ability, and an anniversary!

Today we're celebrating our 16th anniversary, so that inspired my entry for this week's Mix-Ability challenge! I love this older stamp set from Stampin' Up! - there are very few SU sets that I've been moved to hunt down, but this one was definitely a must-have-and-never-sell.

I picked up a small pack of cork 'paper' at Tuesday Morning last time I was there, and I wanted to try it out - it was surprisingly delicate but it stamped well, and I was able to paint on it with acrylics too. To do that, I laid down a base coat of All-Purpose Ink from Tsukineko - this is an ink that's made for porous surfaces, so it was the right choice here - it's a nice bright white with a little bit of a pearl sheen to it. So pretty! I added a little water to it here so I could still see my stamped lines.

Here's a peek at the cork pad - these sheets are just 4", but there are larger ones available, as well as adhesive backed sheets. The sheets are 1/32" thick - they do tear very easily, and my piece warped something awful when I die cut it, but it did relax after a few minutes. The surface really responded well to acrylic paint, and to the All-Purpose Ink.

Here's a closer look at the image and my painting - I used a white Posca pen for my horizon line and some finer highlights.

Part of the Mix challenge was to include some text, so I used this little snip from the index of a book I use for crafting purposes... that's layered onto a wooden tag that I also got at Tuesday Morning! Love that store. The base of my card is embossed with a wood folder, because it looks like water ripples to me. I just embossed the bottom portion, not the full card.

That's all I know! Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!
