Impression Obsession DT Thursday!

It's my turn to host Impression Obsession's DT Thursday - I thought it would be fun to combine a couple of my clear sets to make a pretty scenic card for Christmas Eve, and to share my process as well. Here's my card, and my Christmas wish for you!

I began by creating a mask for the hill - this is a new die from a set called Hill Landscape Layers... these are great for scenic cards as well as interesting edge cuts.

I masked the hill, then used PanPastels to add color to the upper portion of a piece of black cardstock.

I used my MISTI to stamp the children, knowing I'd need to reink several times for a deep black impression... the Post-It note there is stuck to the back of the panel so I could move it by holding on to that instead of getting finger prints in the pastels.

To create the shadows, I stamped the image onto a piece of acetate, then rubbed the ink onto the cardstock by burnishing with my fingers. This creates a reverse image and it's so easy to position with the clear sheet.

I replaced my masks, and used a splatter brush to add some stars to the sky (notice that I used the clear stamp as a mask - that worked really well, and cleaned easily under running water. So much easier than cutting a mask from paper!)

I stamped and embossed the star from the Wisemen Collage set using Stampendous Detail White powder.

I used a white pencil to add highlights to the stamped image and to the hill... this is a Derwent Coloursoft pencil, which is my favorite white.

The extra lighting on the hill was a happy accident - I used a Copic blender pen to try to smooth some details, and it ended up removing color from the cardstock.

I added a little more shine to the star with PanPastels, then completed the card by adding a sentiment from the Wisemen set.

It was fun to incorporate so many techniques into one card! It's such a blessing to be able to create.

On behalf of the Impression Obsession team, Merry Christmas to you!
Thanks for stopping by!
