I had a warm fuzzy Mom moment the other day - the kids went out for a bike ride, and my youngest son came home with a pinecone for me to draw. "See? I thought of you!" he said. So I obviously had to oblige... :)
I sketched two pinecones on a 4" Art Square from Inchie Arts and used a variety of mediums to finally arrive at my finished piece - I started with a layer of light brown as my base color Brusho - I wanted the variation of the powder to show through in my highlights, and I knew that this matboard surface would retain more of a spotty look with the Brusho grains.
Subsequent layers of color were added with QoR paints, a white Pitt pen and white colored pencil, and then I pulled out the Inktense pencils for the deepest shadows, since I wasn't getting the depth I wanted with the watercolors.
Hope you'll have a wonderful week! It's a fun week - a great tutorial coming up Wednesday, some fun challenges, and Hope You Can Cling To kicking off on October 1st!
