MIX-Ability - metallics
This week's Mix-Ability challenge is to use metallics, which seem to be pretty trendy this year!
My desk has been buried this week in kit pieces and class prep for the Great Yosemite Stamp Escape, but I shoved enough aside to make space for this card.
I created my background using Color Burst by Ken Oliver Crafts and a home-made spray also created with the product. I prefer a muted palette and these powders are rainbow vivid, so I toned them down by making a brown mixture to spray into them instead of clear water... I started with a little red and green, then added and tweaked until I got the right tone.
Some texture was added to the background using stencils and drywall tape. When it was dry, I stamped the poppy and brushed bleach over the image... that was magical. There's a sprinkling of chunky gold EP over the card, and an inlaid die cut word painted with gold Lumiere paint to fulfill the challenge for this week. So much fun!
Dina, this is just too beautiful.. I was just wondering what brand the poppy stamp is?
ReplyDeleteOoh how I love this! Bleach painting - it's been ages so I might give it a go.
ReplyDeleteWow Dina...this is GORGEOUS...love your mix abilities...such vibrancy, and blends...awesome card!!
ReplyDeleteCool card Dina! It is amazing what the bleach did to that poppy!!! What ink did you stamp the poppy with?

Oh Dina. I didn't know about this nifty conference and have asked to be placed on the 2016 list. TFS that info.
ReplyDeleteYour card is beyond magnificent. I hope at some point, you will have the time/inclination to make videos so we can gather our materials and follow along on your artistic journey!

ReplyDeleteSo many things going on and it all came together so beautifully. Love the flecks of gold and the design that is faintly seen on the pink b.g.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Dina! So fun that metallics are trending again! Thanks for inspiring! You'll have fun at the Stamp Escape! I taught there last year for Memory Box. A lot of wonderful, creative ladies! Sharon and Melissa were so nice too! You will 'enjoy' for sure!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! The green against the bleached out flower is just beautiful and the gold embossing powder, wow! Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing.
