Monochrome - just 2 pencils

I got a little spontaneous yesterday and made another entry for this week's Mix-Ability challenge (Monochromatic). I started with a 3" Art Square from Inchie Arts in dark grey, and stamped the Button Mandala image from Impression Obsession in black to one side. The image is colored with just 2 Coloursoft pencils, a black and white.

Here's a closer look - I initially didn't love this set of pencils because the leads are a bit fragile, but this turned out to be my favorite white pencil for adding highlights. On the toothy surface of this matboard, it doesn't take a lot of pressure to really create some dimension. I set the square into a 3-1/2" Hallmark coaster frame - I picked up a set of 4 of these at Goodwill and thought they'd be a fun little way to showcase mini art.

Have a wonderful week! I'll be back tomorrow with a prize winner and some pictures from CHA!

  1. Spontaneous? I don't know how. This IS a mini work of art. I have all 72 Derwent Coloursoft pencils, but never in a million years would I have thought of this. Setting the little piece in the coaster frame was another flash of genius.

  8. So pretty for just black/white! Did you wet the white pencil at all? Some of the work on the petals looks like brush strokes!
