Alcohol Marbling tutorial...... and Pooh!
As new challenges are posted for Hope You Can Cling To, each of our hostesses has been sharing a little bit about themselves and their connection with the event. In my post, I shared about my lifelong love of Winnie the Pooh - here's one of the challenge cards I made for this week, using a marbled alcohol ink background. Audrie created our site tutorial for the technique, but I did have a video in the works already, so I finished it up for my blog instead. This is the background I made in the video below, and I shared this card as a variation on her tutorial page.
I make my alcohol backgrounds on my craft mat, and instead of glossy cardstock I use a clay-coated cardstock that I've found works a little better than the glossy. The brand I use is called Mohawk Color Copy Ultra Gloss and it's sold by the ream - you can sometimes find it online under the name Kromkote as well. This is the same card that I use for gel printing and it works wonderfully.
The sentiment and banner die are both my designs, available through Impression Obsession.
Here's how I created my background, along with a tip for adding pattern!
Thanks for visiting me today - have a great week!
I love the way your background turned out!
ReplyDeleteWonderfully easy way to do this background without having to have bottles of copic re-inkers. Think I will try it in Christmas colors.
ReplyDeletegorgeous..thank you for the great video!

ReplyDeleteDina, it turned out beautiful. I've done this before, but like the colors you used. The Winnie the Pooh stamp is so cute too. Thanks. Edna

So sweet, a perfect card that I would love to send to Jen Young in Hawaii recovering from her breast cancer surgery.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous card and thank you for the video......
ReplyDeleteThank you for this tutorial. The demo piece made a lovely background for this pretty card. I'd like to try this technique.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on loving Winnie the Pooh. The tutorial was a great one. I've done the technique before with reinkers but it's been ages ago. This looks much easier. The card is super! What regulaar white CS do you use? I usually use Stampin Up whisper white, but I don't feel it's really heavy enough for card bases. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteLove the Winnie the Pooh stamp...could you give details on it? Thanks.
