IO DT Thursday - Faux Metal

Hey, welcome to Impression Obsession's DT Thursday! It's my turn to share, and I have a fun project. This is a faux metal piece that I made as a sample for yesterday's Faux Metal Figures tutorial over on Splitcoaststampers.

I used the Lg. Bird on Branch die to cut a piece of chipboard:

I glued the die cut to 2 Spellbinders ovals that were layered together, then covered the entire piece with small strips of foil tape. I used a mechanical pencil to add some faux rivets to the piece, then distressed it all with black acrylic paint. To let some more foil show through, I rubbed some areas of the piece with rubbing alcohol.

Here's the video, if you'd like to watch me work - there are lots of ideas for other variations as well! (Actually, I have another similar tutorial HERE using regular aluminum foil and spray paint.)

  2. Very cool idea! I remember your other card (cards) that you did with metal. Love this look and the oval and imprint. I will have to watch the video. Thanks for sharing.
