More to life

This week's Mix-Ability challenge is a fun and interesting one! Lydia had a happy accident and challenged us to begin our project in the same way -- by cleaning black acrylic paint from a brayer onto our project surface. The result reminded me of Rorschach ink blots - and it was fun to 'find something' in the space to create into a little scene.

I rolled my blackened brayer across a 3-inch white Art Square from Inchie Arts - these are such great substrates for mixed media - they just take multiple layers with such ease.

The scene I chose ended up with this boat-shaped negative space to the left (speaking of Rorschach... my husband wanted it to be a shark, and my little guy saw a butterfly). I masked off the boat to stamp in CAC Wood Grain and Beauty Text with white Memento Luxe ink (really impressed with that stuff, in case you wondered!). On the boat, I sketched in some wood lines with a #2 pencil then watercolored in the shape using Shinhan Premium Watercolors.

... and here's Lydia's video, where she describes her process! Hope you'll play along with us. :)
