Beautiful World Tour - White as Snow
Welcome to the December Beautiful World Tour, brought to you by Flourishes!
Each month the team presents
a themed blog hop, hosted by our group of international
designers... we are literally spread out all over the globe! At the
heart of our projects is
the idea of truly showcasing beauty in card
making – whether it just be in a beautifully colored image, a fabulous
way to incorporate an embellishment or a new twist on a card layout.
If you just happened on the blog hop today because you're a regular reader of my blog, and you'd like to view the entire hop, you can start back at the Flourishes Blog - you'll find a full list of participants there, and all the details you need. If you're already hopping and you arrived here from Anne-Elise's blog, you're doing just fine.
This month's theme is White as Snow - appropriate for winter, though it's pretty green and rainy here now! My daughter's been playing with a piercing technique lately, and I wanted to try it too - when I got this Poinsettia and Pine set in the mail, it seemed like a perfect fit!
I stamped the larger image on the back side of a watercolor panel, then went around the outlines of the poinsettia petals with a piercing tool...
Here's what the panel looked like from the front, with light shining through the panel - I stamped in black but next time I'll choose a lighter color for stamping - I couldn't see the holes I had made, and was sure I'd be going blind by the end of the project!
I filled the flower center with ivory French knots, and added some light watercoloring (reinkers) to the panel just to give a little dimension to the flower.
I need a name for this technique! If you have a great idea, can you share it with me in your comment? I would really appreciate the help.
Leave comments for all our designers and you could WIN A FREE FLOURISHES STAMP SET!! Comments will be accepted until the end of the month, and a random comment will be chosen by one of our designers - but we're not telling which one! The more comments you leave, the better your chance of winning will be.
From here you'll be traveling on to.........
Thanks for hopping with us today! Don't
forget to leave a comment!

The sponging and die cuts make this card special.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't know what you should call the technique, but I love the result of this pierced detailing!!! The french knots and embossed detailing are beautiful accents to this stunning card!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely exquisite! Very impressive and creative! Love the French knots!
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous and your detail work is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWell I think I would call the technique piercing perfection. It is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWOW! That is amazing! This is such a lovely piece of art! :)

HOW BEAUTIFUL DINA!!!!!!:) How about "PIERCED IMAGING?" It's FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!:) LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE EVERYTHING you've done with this!!!!!!!!:)
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this gorgeous card. I thought of hand sewed, needle work. Used be called "candle wicking". Many french knots were used. Your piercing accomplishment was excellent. I would call it "candle wicking by piercing".(or wicking by piercing) Beautifully done, and the soft reinkers adds to the beauty.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Dina! Love the look that technique creates. I agree with Pattie, it reminds me of candle wicking. Don't have a name for you, but I do love it!
ReplyDeleteJust a wonderful card, very pretty and elegant. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteBackside Piercing is what I would call it...
ReplyDeleteLooks so cool on that lovely poinsettia!
I love the frame you created and the piercing is fantastic. Thanks for sharing your technique.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the pierced poinsettia, such a lovely look!
ReplyDeleteThe piercing is so creative, Dina, this is rich and elegant in a beautifully subtle way!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Dina and a great idea! What about 'pierce stamping' or 'just pierce it' or 'stampiercing'?? Just a bit of brainwaving.....warm greet Miranda
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful. The piercing adds dimension and texture without detracting from the subtle colors. Wow!
ReplyDeleteThe piercing technique was such a cool way to achieve a white on white look! I love that you photographed it with light coming through as well! Beautiful! You are inspiring me to improve my own photography of my cards.
ReplyDeleteDini, love your "Reverse Piercing and Painting"! This is stunning!! It has an antique look to it and I love it! You're amazing..... so creative......
ReplyDeleteYour card is very lovely, and thanks for the great photos helping to show how you accomplished this look. So, are you going to teach us "thread-challenged people" how to make what you call a French Knot? I mean really, I don't have a clue!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card.
ReplyDeleteOh, this turned out so beautiful! I love the french knots, they add gorgeous texture. You always think of the best ideas!
ReplyDeleteI liked Pattie J's suggestion for a name but my first thought was like we use the term reverse emboss, you could reverse pierce.
ReplyDeleteLovely card once again love the theme.
I agree with you - you need a name for this technique - this is a great way to use the piercing tool and you embellished with great subtle style. GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Love the french knots.
ReplyDeleteYour card is BEAUTIFUL. The knots in the center add that special touch.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
