Impression Obsession DT Thursday!

Welcome to this week's DT Thursday!  On behalf of the team, I'd like to wish our American readers a very Happy Thanksgiving! We do have so much to be grateful for.

If you've been reading my blog for any length of time, you know I keep a variety of coloring mediums within reach at all times, but watercoloring is really my love - it's one medium that I've really challenged myself with this year, pushing myself, and working with my own original drawings rather than stamped artwork. It's been really fun, and I've learned so much.

I did use a stamp for this card, but tried something different - painting in the shadows first instead of last. I worked with Shinhan Premium Watercolors and added more precise details with Prismacolor Pencils.

This is one of Gary Robertson's stamp images (Worn Shoes) from Impression Obsession... his images are so sentimental and I love the cross-hatching he adds that make shading so much easier.

I used a little matte varnish to mask the laces on the shoes - glad I thought of that, because I can't imagine having to paint around them!

Love the shadow in the slight opening of the door, too.

Hope this inspires you to look at your stamps a little differently! Thanks so much for joining me today! Remember to take a peek at the sale items over at I.O. - the annual sale is ON!
Thanks for stopping by!

Saw all the traffic heading for home on Dutch television this night!!!
The streets lightened up as beautiful coloured ribbons.
