Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Favorite Technique

The Impression Obsession team's challenge today is to create a project using a favorite technique. Here's my card - maybe you've seen it if you voted in the WCMD contest over at Imagine Crafts last week! Thanks to all who voted!!

I guess technically mixed media stamping isn't a technique, but I did incorporate a favorite background technique here - scraping acrylic paints over cardstock. I remembered to take a picture during the process... it's so fun to watch projects like this evolve.

The technique is done by dabbing or dripping acrylic paints over a cardstock or other surface, then scraping the paints around with the straight, stiff edge of a credit card or gift card. It's a lot of fun, and the results are always a surprise. The clouds were done using a negative die cut as a stencil, and scraping household acrylic caulking through the opening.

The angel was colored with acrylic markers and paints, white India ink, and Polychromos Pencils.

The sentiment is one that I designed, called Impulse.

Other stamps I used: CAC Ledger, Passport Collage, Porcelain Crackle, Angel

  6. Love your card. I do some mixed media work and I make a ton of cards but I seldom make a mixed media card. I think I just may have to try that now. Thanks for the inspiration.
