When Morning Gilds the Skies

In between planning our kids' standardized testing schedule for next week and working out a few final samples for Dare To Get Dirty, I worked out some inspiration in my altered hymnal... this is an ongoing project that I have really been enjoying. Sometimes the hymn finds me first and I find a theme to match; sometimes a theme finds me first and I find a hymn to match. I took color inspiration from the current Unity Challenge and set to work on this page... I do have a second copy of this book, but I still like to make sure that the hymn is left readable... this one had a bonus verse so I could go over some of the words without losing anything.

The stamp I used is from the set called Your Wings Exist - I love this set (it's on sale right now too!)!

I started by stamping the image in a light color, then filling in the background elements with Faber-Castell Gelatos. The pages of the book are not super sturdy, so I blended with a tissue to get the smoothness I wanted. The clouds were finger-painted using white acrylic.

More details were added with colored pencils. I added a light layer of white acrylic paint on her arms and legs so they didn't get too lost in the music. I added a verse in the corner (Ps. 143:8) in pencil, over the Gelatos. I used an old paint marker to do the reflections on the water - that sort of worked! I have some other acrylic markers on order and I can't wait to play with them.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!
