Wildflower Memories

This card was featured earlier in the month over at Inky Antics, but I wanted to share it here! I'm planning on a busy day today, preparing for a graduation here this evening... I'll be playing the piano for the service, which is always a little unnerving! Think of me...!

One of my favorite family memories before we moved overseas was a day trip from Bakersfield over to the coast, with a long stop at the most beautiful place I've ever been - fields and fields full of wildflowers. If you've visited my blog for any length of time, you know I love poppies, and paint or stamp them when I feel homesick.... this is the place my heart goes back to at those times. Here are a few pictures I took that day!

I was thinking of the picture above when I colored the panel below! I loved the way the poppies and lupines were growing in the middle of this worn path. I stamped the image stamp from Inky Antics' Guided Path set on a 3-inch Art Square from Inchie Arts, and colored the scene using Touch Twin Markers. The colors I used are below.

I love the way Flower Soft adds texture and realism to scenes like this - I used Marigold, Citrus Crush, and Lilac for the different flowers in the scene.

That little peek of vintage floral trim is from my Mom's stash - I used to love poking through the odds and ends in her sewing room when I was a girl - the same way my daughter does now in my studio.

Another peek at the Flower Soft details....

...and a closer look at the texture on the card base (embossing folder from Spellbinders). That bracket frame is from Impression Obsession.

Thanks for stopping by!
