Mixed Media Challenge - POP! goes your color wheel

It's my turn again to host the Mix-Ability challenge over at Splitcoaststampers!

This week I'm asking you to dust off your color wheel. We are working in cool and warm color groups, and the idea is to use colors from one side of the color wheel, and then add a POP of color from the other side. For my card below, I chose to create a background in blues and greens, then added a pop of orange. You could also create a background with warm colors (like orange and yellow), then accent it with a color from the cool side (blue or purple).

I had so much fun making this card! I'm glad that decided to document my process in a video, because I learned a few things as I was going along, too - mixed media leaves lots of room for play and discovery, which I think is so cool.

The stamps I used are from Inky Antics - I've been working on a few more projects that they'll be sharing on their blog during the month of May! Yep, so excited to be a guest designer over there next month.

This set especially grabbed me, because seriously, since I saw Les Miserables in January I have not been able to get the songs out of my head. This is such a beautiful theme throughout the movie - love looking beyond the surface to the true value of the human soul.

Normally I use more stamps in my backgrounds, but because I wanted to limit myself to Inky Antics stamps on this card, I had a little fun creating texture and background effects with household objects. You'll see what I mean when you watch the video!

Take a peek at the video, then come check out the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!
