Designed To Color sketch challenge

There's a new challenge posted over at the Designed to Color blog! If you love to color, I hope you'll check it out and play along! This is my last challenge post with Designed to Color - it has been a fun six months getting to know the crew behind this magazine! Wish you all the best, girls -- thank youuuuu!!!

This is the sketch for this month's challenge... I sort of flipped it and chopped off one column of squares to make it fit a more narrow card size.

This month's challenge is sponsored by High Hopes Rubber Stamps, and they sent me this adorable image to work with! When the seasons change here we have several weeks of strong winds, and the kids will all be out with their homemade kites, made from plastic shopping bags and palm branches.  It's always so fun to see!

I colored the image (Duckie Flying Kite) using Touch Twin Markers - normally I'd have a color map for you, but there are so many tiny areas in this image, and I really took my time shading the duckie and grass with lots of tiny colored dots... the color map might look a bit scary! All the colors I used are listed below. I also used a white colored pencil to highlight a few areas.

The cloud dies are from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, and the sentiment (on an Impression Obsession diecut) is from Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Co.

These are the Touch Twin markers that I used:

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Joy, here's a video for the technique I used with the alcohol ink - I really need to redo that one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2f1Ul2Q5N4

For clouds, I paint the sky around the clouds if that makes sense... I make the curved bumpy tops, and then flat bottoms, and then run a few horizontal streaks through the white space. That would probably make a good tutorial... thanks for the idea!
