Gary Robertson has some fun and whimsical garden gnomes in this release - here are a couple of his designs, which I painted with acrylic paints... this is Gnome on Bench...
...and Gnome on Swing.
Closer in...
If you're curious how I made the flowers, you may be surprised to know that I didn't use flower dies! These were made using the Mini Circle Tags die set pictured below, along with the Branch Die.
Here's how I made them.... Each flower has 6 layers of text-weight paper, attached in the center with a brad. I spritzed my flower with water as I was working, so each layer was damp as I crushed it up to the center. Crush the layers one at a time, until all 6 are pulled up around each other, then gently open them out. The water will help them keep their form when they dry.
Be sure to stop by tomorrow for our final day of new images - hope you're enjoying the hop!

ReplyDeleteThose gnomes look amazing! And those flowers, they look real!!
ReplyDeleteGreat coloring on the image! Love how it pops against the white.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to be reminded of water on circles six layer flowers, Dina! Ours were five layers years ago and more crushed low in the center, but your product blossom is more double blossom full/ realistic. I like it! Thanks for spurring papercrafting possibilities.
ReplyDeletePurplish-blue-white is safe for guys and dolls. Smart choice.
A friend spent the night after Christmas is an ice hotel, Arctic Circle, where glacial ice carvings gloriously adorn walls and windows... would you think an ice flower/snowflakes layered could turn out so lovely? Worth playing with on paper?
Keep Looking UP! mt23stamperatyahoo
