Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Is it Spring yet?

This week's challenge from the Impression Obsession team is to create Spring cards... whether it feels like Spring where you are or not! I'm sharing some of the new images today - 2 cards that use the same focal image in 2 very different ways! On my first card I stamped the Delicate Daffodil image in Amber Clay ink and watercolored with watercolor pencils, then covered the flowers with a Sakura glaze pen and allowed the glaze to dry completely. The flowers were overstamped with the CAC Damask background using Adirondack Lemonade ink. I lightly misted the inked stamp before stamping. Stems and leaves were sketched in with Derwent Inktense and watercolor pencils. I used the largest die from Spellbinders Labels 1 to cut out the main image, and the sentiment (Precious Memories) is on one of the images from Spellbinders Tags 5 (retired). The lace border was made with a Martha Stewart punch.

My second card was inspired by my orchid that is just dropping its last blooms after 2 months! The same image was colored "direct to rubber" using a Marvy LePlume marker, leaving out one petal, stamped, then colored with watercolor pencils and waterbrush. I used the same technique, covering the image with Sakura glaze pen, then stamping over the image with CAC Damask in Antiquities Cobalt chalk ink (misted before stamping). The Flourish image was stamped in chalk ink (Versamagic), then the whole panel was sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist. For the background, panel I swiped Antiquities Cobalt ink on nonstick baking sheet then misted the sheet and laid my cardstock down into the ink. When the cardstock dried, I stamped it with CAC Script and Round Floral, then sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist. Buttons are threaded with paper.

  4. Fantastic cards Dina! You always do beautiful work but sometimes it's dropdead gorgeous and this is one of those times. I can't believe how you stamped the flourish and background damask over the flowers - it's perfect!

  6. Both cards are so beautiful! Thank you for talking about your techniques. I was wondering how you did the background with the round floral for the second card so I appreciate you mentioning it. Thank you so much for sharing!
