smARTworks challenge - Swimmin'

Each of the smARTworks design team members was sent the "Swimmin'" set to work with as our team challenge this time around. These challenges are always fun - and it's neat to see each member put their own spin on a particular set.

I wanted to do a shaker card, but I needed to create a background scene first. My watery background was sponged with Stream ink, and then brayered, with rubber bands wrapped around the brayer, using Stream ink and white pigment ink. It's an old technique, but it does the trick for wavy lines that can look like waves, seaweed or grass, or just add texture to a solid area.
The fish were colored on white cardstock with Neopiko markers, and pieced onto the background. My fish 'hook' is an earring pin which I bent into shape...I've done the same thing before with a cut paperclip, but this is a little more decorative.

I used a Shake-It shaker pouch (self adhesive) to create the shaker element, and filled it with Dew Drops - they sort of look like bubbles....right?

As usual, check over at Susan's blog for a chance to win the challenge set for yourself, and click on the team links to the left to see what everyone else came up with!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I love your cute and clever card! ...a question: How did you create the bubbles at the bottom of your wavey ocean?
