reverse 3-step stamping

This technique definitely needs a name.......I've had the idea in my head for a couple of months, and finally put it to paper a few weeks ago. This card features one of my Trios sets from smARTworks, Rose Trio #2, but any multiple-step stamp set would do. Sorry (again) I didn't think to take pictures throughout the process, but I think it's easily understood...if not, do feel free to email me!

Instead of starting my stamping with the 1st base image of the Trios set, I started with the second one, using a medium shade. Then, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I positioned the third step stamp over the 2nd. I did the same with the Stem Duo set, stamping only the 2nd step stamp to paper (masking was involved there too).

Next, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig again, I positioned the first step stamp (rose, then stem) over the stamped images, using Versamark ink this time. I embossed the whole thing using clear embossing powder.

Once that was set and dry, I got out my chalk ink pads (I like the Versamagic Dewdrops), and did some "direct-to-paper", rubbing the pads right onto the cardstock to create the background effect I wanted. It really made the rose "pop." I stamped some flourishes up the left side (flourish is from the Stella set.) I used a little white acrylic paint to make a place for a sentiment - I felt like a separate panel would be too distracting.

That's it!
