green tea for me......

I got news from my doctor this last week that my cholesterol is really REALLY high, so...time to make some changes! Green tea is one new addition to my life, in addition to more faithful walking and lots more fresh and whole foods. Fun stuff.

Time again for a tea party - we actually had a super cute tea party at Bible study this morning for a birthday celebration, so today feels perfect for a smARTworks tea. Our hostess challenged us to make a floral card to celebrate Spring. My first card might be a little surprising and un-Spring-ish, but I had to try it - it is really elegant in real life. When we were away last weekend I saw a t-shirt that inspired this piece - it was olive green that faded to brown, grungy and floral with butterflies in brown, highlighted with yellow, orange, and teal. Gorgeous! So here's my take. Lots of chalk inks, direct to paper, then highlights added with Prismacolor pencil and white acrylic paint added with the tip of my stylus. I fiddled some with the placement of the metal bar - decided to put it at the bottom as it made it look like a museum piece. Not so bright and yellowed in real life...something is wrong with the color on my computer, apparently, 'cause it looks different on here!

Card #2 is a little more Spring-y, I guess. The flowers are watercolored with Derwent pencils and a waterbrush, and I grabbed a few coordinating scraps from my stash. A bit mish-mash-y, but I like.
