Oriental beauty

This is the first card I've made with smARTworks' "Oriental Mix" set. Oriental Mix is one of the smARTworks sets designed specifically for dominos, called Domino Darlings. There are sets for standard dominos and sets for the minis...so if you're into that, check them out! (pages 64-67).

The geisha is colored with Prismacolor pencils, then brushed over with my new PearlEx watercolors - they add a little gold shimmer over the kimono that you surely can't see in the photo...but it's kinda cool in person. :) I masked the edge of the right panel and scored along the masked line, then 'golded' it with a gel pen. Wish I had a brighter one. "Cherish" is one of smARTworks' bonus rubber stamps, which come free with your order.

The ribbon was originally white with a gold motif - I think I got it at Dollar Tree (I love that store!). I 'dyed' it with a black chalk ink pad, which worked for me. I thought the normal tie would be too much so I tied a simple knot in the ribbon before attaching it. Just enough interest without creating a diagonal distraction.

Looks like a busy week for our family...this morning we had the service at my inlaws' church to share about our last 2-1/2 years overseas, and tomorrow we have to conquer Grandma's back room to find the stuff for our display table, as we have several more ministry presentations this week. Tuesday we'll be driving about 3 hours away to a memorial service for the niece of dear friends of ours, who died of Leukoblastoma at 9 years old. Wednesday we'll be heading south to my Aunt's, and spending the rest of the week there, with presentations on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and twice on Sunday morning. Makes me tired to think about it all...wrong time of the month for a busy people week...but will take it one day and one step at a time! Thanks for checking in on me!

  1. Wow, I love lots about this card. First the colors are wonderful. And I especially love all the small details (I love that about all your cards) like knotting the ribbon as you did, dying it black (I might have never thought of that!), and using the gold gel pen. Thanks for always sharing your detials :-)
