Cookies and Tea....!

Anyone else remember as a kid playing four-square and calling "no tea parties"? Well...we're all grown up now, so...a tea party it is! The smARTworks Design Team members, otherwise known as the smART Cookies, are having their first blog Tea Party today. (what's a tea party without cookies, anyway?) Every two weeks one of the team members posts a challenge layout, and the other members will come up with their version(s) of it using smART stamps. Simple as that!

It was my idea (!!) so this first layout is my design. (The top panel didn't have to be plaid - just patterned somehow, or different from the bottom panels.) Here are the 2 projects I made using the sketch!

The card on the left features 5 different smART sets! I think that might be a record for me. The boy is actually only half a stamp - on the full image there is a lamb that he's feeding, but I like him just picking flowers too. Such a sweet stamp either way. Other sets used: One Smile (text background), Spatter (texture on green panel), Accents #7 (faux ribbon), Gathering Flowers (grass - partial image), and Chickadee Wishes (partial stamp - single word).

Card #2 is an ATC - this was one of those 4 day projects - I had the pieces together, then just worked on it as I had time and inspiration for the next step. The butterfly is from the Coneflowers set, and I used Alpha 02 for the letters.

The bottom striped panel...that was an interesting adventure I'll have to try again. The stripes were just too bright for letters over top, so I thought I'd just try a little swipe of acrylic paint where I wanted the word. Ack. I ended up painting the entire panel, letting it dry, then sanding it lightly. Kind of a cool distressed effect, I think.

Alrighty - that's it for me - be sure to check out what the rest of the team came up with:
Susiestampalot
Sweet Somethings
Tah Dah!
Dee's Studio
In the Works
If you decide to try the layout too - link it here! I'd love to see what you come up with!

  5. I really like the butterfly ATC - very cool effect on the striped paper, too. Sounds like a great way to reinvigorate some of my decidedly dated stash :)

  6. You, my friend, get more mileage out of your rubber than anyone I know! Always wonder, "Why didn't I think of that?" At the same time it inspires me to use fresh eyes with my own stash.

As for the sketch challenge itself, I like. I like. The card is beautifully "quiet," and the ATC is a great big "Wow!"
