bloom faux watercolor

The Versamagic chalk inks are perfect for Faux Watercoloring...Fabriano Medioevalis (smARTworks carries them) watercolor cards are divine for watercoloring on...and Art Impressions has a line of watercolor stamps...so this card is like a trifecta of awesome things you should try if you haven't yet. Nuff said.

Stamps used:
Bloom where you're planted : smARTworks
Watering can, greenery, tall flowers: Art Impressions
Roses, tiny yellow flowers: Stampin' Up!

The faux watercolor effect is accomplished by inking the stamp and then giving it a good mist or 2 with water before stamping. This works really well with solid images like floral silhouettes, etc. and the DewDrop pads are great for detailed "direct to rubber" inking with that pointed end. If you want to blend the colors with a brush once they're on the paper, you can do that too. AI's watercolor line is designed for exactly that. If you've never seen the preview for their watercolor video, you've gotta check it out - she makes it looks so elegant and easy. I have a long way to go, seriously.

I made this card for a friend who just moved here, after having served for some time with her family in a Spanish-speaking country.....imagine that adjustment language-wise - when your mental foreign language slot is full of Spanish words that come out instinctively in cross-cultural settings. Anyway, thought she might appreciate some encouragement.

[One little tip I've learned in watercoloring - if you get a smudge in a white area where you don't want a smudge - sand it off with an emery board!]
