Have a happy little day!

I love love love this little birdie! Isn't he the cutest thing? I've been working little by little (that's how I usually end up working since I have 4 small kiddos) on a couple of smARTworks cards since yesterday. Had to share this one...this color combo actually came from 4 pieces of the baby's clothes on the drying rack outside. They were just like this, 2 on top of the other (but turned, with the blues on the right - as if it matters to you). Who knew laundry could be inspiring? :)

I've used this layout before here - it's a fun one and another good scrap-user-upper. The squares are all 2"x2". The original saying says "Add a little happy to the day!", but I stamped the words I wanted individually so I could layer them this way. (The word 'little' is popped with foam tape.) Thought this revised saying went well with the teeny birdie and balloons. My 4YO, who helped me unpack and organize all my new stamps, insists that the bird and balloon and flower in the set are cookies.

Coloring is done with Prismacolor pencils, blended with mineral spirits. There is Stardust sparkle pen on the spots on the balloons. The polka dots on the light blue panel are stamped with a pencil eraser...all the other panels had some kind of texture, and it just needed something there. The big square brads were a gift from some girlfriends back home - I think they are from Making Memories. Pulled the square theme a little tighter. I distressed the panel edges with my finger nail.

I'll see you Wednesday - we are heading to a hotel nearby for some needed family time. Take care!

  1. This is just adorable! SO cheerful!

  2. Jus' li'l me checkin' in on my friend! I'm home for one night, and leave again in the morning for Oklahoma to help out at a Camp this coming week. Oh joy! Pray I'll be a blessing to the young ones, and I pray that y'all have a wonderful relaxing time at the hotel! Glad to hear Benny is doing better - God is good! :-) Love ya!

  3. Super cute - love the diamond against the squares. And I'll be praying that your whole family has a wonderful, relaxing time away!!
