I do still stamp!
It occurred to me earlier that I hadn't posted anything stamped for quite some time...my brain is a bit tied up with some other projects that I have going on...not to mention the fact that my kids are grounded from watching movies for the rest of the week so they're just a little more present in my hair! (bad mom!) Anyway, here are a couple cards I got put together today...simple layout, using up scraps. :) I'm foreseeing a need to mass-produce a little bit - my parents will be coming overseas to visit soon, and I'm planning to take advantage of them (HA!) by sending some thank you cards back to mail Stateside. Even with the postage going up, it's about 1/4 of the price of mailing them from here.
The butterfly stamp is from My Heart Stamps for You...I'm usually a bit of a stickler for coloring things "right" but I decided to expand my horizons today and match him to the paper so I could use up some larger pieces. On both cards, the butterflies are stamped in StazOn black on watercolor paper, then watercolored with Derwent WC pencils. I hand-sketched the swirly lines and poked holes with a thumb tack (nope, no fancy piercing tool for this girl.....) then carefully erased the lines. The photo corner...everyone does theirs a little differently...I cut a square out of cardstock, then lay it on the diagonal line on my Fiskars cutting mat to determine the diagonal center. I mark that point, then stick the square part way into my square punch and punch it so I have a right angle left, then cut with scissors from corner to corner. That saying is from MHS4U too, part of a set with a Thank You stamp.
The second card is pretty much the same. I used Asela's little trick on the label end, sticking the scrap strip into the corner of my scalloped square punch to create the rounded end. The 'Thanks" stamp is from Purple Onion Stamps, and came in my care package the other day. (Thanks Trish!) Hmm...getting a further away look at this one, I may revisit it and add a photo corner to it too.
Thanks for checking in on me today!
These are gorgeous Dina...TFS!
ReplyDeleteWow! I think these might be some of my favorites of yours!! Absolutely beautiful! Anything that looks "batik-y" is a favorite of mine, though. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, Dina!!! Love the paper piercing. For a paper peircing tool that's easier to grip, push the eye of a needle into a cork.
ReplyDeleteAll of these cards are just beautiful!! The pierced butterfly paths look wonderful - and that aqua one with the pieced strips is truly stunning. Man, now I wanna make butterflies!! :)
