MISTI/Impression Obsession Blog Hop!

So fun to be joining the Impression Obsession designers in a hop with the My Sweet Petunia team! If you just happened on my post because you're a regular reader of my blog, you might want to click over to the start of the hop at the My Sweet Petunia blog so you don't miss out on anything (like PRIZES!). If you're already hopping and you came from Ceal Pritchett's blog, you're doing just fine.

For my projects today, I played around with a new background from my stamp line called CAC Sunset Sky. It's got a lot of solid space in the sky for fun inking effects - so many possibilities! Today I was playing with a block print look by doing some layered stamping. I used 2 colors of Distress ink for each sample, and moved the cardstock over about 3/4" for the second impression... that really created some neat colors in the background and added so much depth to the forest scene.

Here's how I did the background of a card that didn't quite make the cut (I had stamped the deer first on this one and they ended up looking like they were levitating...).

I stamped in yellow first, with the cardstock at 3"...

For the second print, I moved the cardstock up to 2-1/4" and stamped in orange. I love how the color overlaps some places and doesn't in others, and how the white shows through.

Here's another finished card done using the same colors. On both cards I used an oval die to cut a window opening for the sentiment (that one is from the Serene Scene clear set). The deer silhouettes are here, here, and here.

Here's what you need to know about prizes!!

On Oct. 12 we will draw from everyone who leaves a comment on ALL the blogs in the hop to give away a mini MISTI and a $25 IO gift certificate. Winners will be posted on the IO and MSP blogs and FB pages. All the links are below in case you get lost along the way!
