More July Releases from Impression Obession!

We've got more projects to share from Impression Obsession's newest release! Again, I'm so excited to be able to share these new IO products with you!

For this post I've got a simple mini slimline card that features some new dies, new paper, a little sneak peek at the August red rubber kit, and a new stencil that coordinates with the Homespun Floral Christmas paper pack!  As I broke into my paper pack I found myself looking for textured solids, so I'll remember that as I go forward with new designs. This one is a nice neutral rose that works really well for pinks and reds, with a tone-on-tone damask print.

The Christmas Florals stencil set is a modern poinsettia design, and the stencil set has 3 pieces - this is great for mass production, since you can keep one color dedicated to each layer! Here's how the stencil will look when you've got all the layers together.

There are 3 clusters of flowers - you can use them individually, or use the whole 6x6 pattern to create a repeat for wrapping paper or other larger projects. I just used the 3-flower cluster on my card. These are the same flower motifs that are in the paper pack, so you can use those colors for design cues if you like!

I used "Tacky When Dry" medium on the dot layer and added some foil for a really pretty pop (it's on sale right now at that link - nice surprise!). That's a really fun medium with stencils, if you haven't used it before, and a great way to add foil without needing dies or a machine.

Impression Obsession July Release

Soooooo excited to be able to share Impression Obsession's newest release with you! I have a big role in this release which I've been hinting at for a while now - Impression Obsession now carries stencils and paper pads, and I am very proud to have my name on them! At the beginning of this year I pushed myself very hard to learn the aspects of design that go into paper and stencil creation. After so many months, it is a huge thrill to be able to hold these products in my hands, and to be able to offer them to you for use in your card making and other crafting pursuits. There will be many more to come!

Today the design team will be sharing projects that they've made using new products for July! If you've come here from the IO blog you're in the right place - I'm at the top of the hop today! We have had some delays on the manufacturing end, so we've been scrambling to get these done for you - in the coming weeks we'll have more time to share more projects and videos of the new stuff so you can get a better look at these fun products!

I've used the Layered Dahlia stencil set for this card - I love the results and I hope you do too! I used IO's hybrid inks in Peach, Melon and Orange to build up the layers. The sentiment set and label dies are new too. Also - see that striped paper peeking out? That is from one of my new paper packs, Fall Floral - you'll find a mix of floral and leafy patterns, with some solids and other prints mixed in.

Here's one more card I made while I had the Dahlia stencils out - this one was done with the 2nd stencil in the set, and I used it to deboss my cardstock for a letterpress effect. You can ink the stencil to do this too - you might be able to see that there was a little ink left on my stencil that left a faint impression. This is just one great way to get more use from your stencils - there is so much you can do with them!

Here's a closer look, with worse lighting to capture the dimension! The paper used on this card base is from the Homespun Florals paper pack, which has a more wintry calico feel. There is a stencil to match it as well! 😻

Convertible Craft Dangles on Etsy

I added an item to my Etsy store - I've been playing around with this design idea for a week or so! This is a convertible dangle that can hang on a zipper, glue pin, or scissor charm. I've got a few different ones available and each one will come with a handmade wrapped wire pin and a leather fob. The clasp on the dangle lets you attach it to either one.

Here's one of the designs on my Tonic mini scissors. The ones in my store are all stamper themed, but I have charms for other themes as well. Custom designs are available too (prices will vary). The leather loop is about 2" long.

If you have a favorite color or a different design idea, let me know! I'm working on custom listings today.

Dare To Get Dirty!

This week over at Splitcoaststampers we're into our favorite week of the year - Dare To Get Dirty! DTGD is a week of fun, challenges, and prizes for our Fan Club members at Splitcoaststampers - so much of our site content is free, but there are some special 'perks' and members-only content for paid members. Dare To Get Dirty is our annual "thank you!" to the members of our Fan Club. This year is the 15th anniversary of the event, so we are opening it to everyone! There are more than 40 challenges in the course of a week! It's a lot of fun behind the scenes, hosting the challenges and encouraging these sweet ladies as they jump in with us and see what it's like to get a little Dirty! If you'd like to join us, you can find all the info in the forum here! (If you're a Splitcoast Fan Club member, come see what we're doing in the challenge forum today! If not... why not?)

This challenge hasn't actually been posted yet, but I took a huge liberty with the wording and made it work for me - I can just say that the hostess was not expecting a beach card in her gallery! I used Karin markers to ink different areas of the stamp, then either misted the ink to stamp or blended out with a brush once the ink was down on the watercolor paper. I love the looseness of this type of stamping!

This set is simply gorgeous any way it's used. You can find the set HERE!

I hope you're having a great week! I taught a colored pencil class Saturday and I'm still recovering from the sheer extroversion that required... there are lots of projects to do and catch up on this week, so I need to snap back quickly! By the way, I took a video of my class prep, so when I have time to collect my thoughts and content and do a voice over, that will all be an online class one day. These are the swatches using the techniques I shared for different animal textures!

Cheers!

Impression Obsession DT Challenge: Summer Things

The Impression Obsession team has some projects to share today featuring a summer theme - play along with us!

I have a few projects to share using the new paper pack - have you seen these? The designs are beautiful, the paper is a sturdy 80# weight, double sided, slightly glossy - they're so much fun. And Even More Fun -
soon you'll be able to purchase some of MY paper pack designs! I have 2 packs coming out in a few weeks, and 2 in August.

Last year I released some slimline stamps, and I wanted to test this lighthouse scene out with the ocean papers. Both of these cards were made in the same way - I stamped directly onto the paper using the slimline stamp - these were stamped with Distress Oxide inks, and it took about 3-4 impressions to get good coverage. I went over the lighthouse with a black pencil to cover the black in the background. I ran sandpaper over the paper horizontally and vertically to distress it - I love this look! I think we used to call it faux linen...?

To get a good position on the paper I stamped the image first onto this vinyl quilter's grid - these are so helpful in positioning stamps and very easy to cut to size - I have this one that fits the MISTI and a couple that are cut to A2 size (there are 4 gridded sheets and 2 plain sheets in the package, letter sized - it's a great value!).

On the second card I added a few torn paper scraps under the sentiment.

While I had the paper pack out, I noticed the index of images on the front of the pad and had an aha moment - the thumbnails were just the right size for a pendant! This is a tutorial I'm working on for Splitcoaststampers - I have a few more samples I need to do before it's ready, but I'm really happy with how this turned out! (This particular one is in my Etsy store, in case it might want to be yours! Perfect for summer!)

I had already started these earrings, so while I'm sharing jewelry I'll pop them in too - the bottom beads are made with epoxy clay which I've been experimenting with lately... it has some different properties from polymer clay that make it really interesting to work with. I formed the beads and then pressed them into the new Cover-a-Card Waves stamp, then layered some different acrylic paints on the beads for a vintage look. They're stacked with real shell 'bead caps' and some vintage repurposed metal spacer beads. Those are on Etsy too.

New digital stamp set - Pooh Cards!

I have a new set of digital stamps in my Etsy store - if you love Classic Winnie the Pooh like I do you'll love how easily this set works for card fronts! I have these 3 printables in the set, which are actually 8.5" x 11" (perfect for wall decor!) but can be sized down to 4.25" x 5.5" for greeting cards. All the separated images and sentiments are in the bundle as well.

I don't have sample cards done because of printer issues, but hopefully next week I'll be back with some samples to share. Have a wonderful week!

Deployed Soldier digital set

Happy 4th! I added the Deployed Soldier digital set to my new Etsy store this week - this is a combination of some newer images with a few verses and sentiments that had been previously released with an older version of the soldier image.

These are all the images in the set (7 total!) - the jpg and png versions are sized about 2x larger than the physical stamps were, and the svg format allow them to be resized to your heart's content for prints or vinyl cuts.

Here are a few projects that I made with the stamp versions of these images - digital images can be resized and flipped for lots of different effects.

If you share your work using my stamps on Instagram be sure to tag me @dkdesigns_stamps! If you post to the Splitcoaststampers gallery, kindly add dkdesigns and dinakowaldigital to your keywords. Thank you so much for your support!
